Role Requirements

Joining the ​Projects Team you will be responsible for commissioning, installing and servicing industrial automation and industrial control systems.

Knowledge

SCADA/PLC/Motor Control/Drives knowledge and experience

Software & Electrical Design

PLC software design and electrical design capability required.

Experience

Minimum of 6 years experience working in a control system engineering role ideally at an integrator.

Driving

This role includes some site based work (less than 20% of the year)

Working Away

This is predominantly an office based role with some opportunities to work away.

Talentometry have partnered with Fairfield Controls to recruit a Lead Control System Engineer for each of their office locations (South Yorkshire, Gloucestershire, and Scottish Central Belt.

The role has come about as a result of business expansion and capacity expansion to enable further growth.

It may not surprise you to learn that the Director Group all joined either as apprentices or graduates at Fairfield Controls making business decisions that propel the organization forward in terms of capability to deliver one of the most interesting portfolio of complex Control & Automation projects on offer from any single control system integrator.

Fairfield Controls provide turnkey ​instrumentation control and automation solutions across a wide range of markets. Solutions include PLC, SCADA, Motor Control, drives and range from simple dedicated controller applications, to complex networked solutions. 

Projects include the London Eye, Wimbledon Centre Court Retractable Roof, The Falkirk Wheel and Tower Bridge. In addition to this, the business also operates within advanced manufacturing integrating the latest Industry 4.0 technologies in sectors such as Defence, Aerospace, and Pharmaceuticals. 

The Role

- Hardware and software design and specification. 
- Production and review of technical documentation.

Software coding and configuration for PLC, SCADA and HMI interfaces.

System commissioning, service and maintenance support (including call-out support on a rota basis)

- Project management (Quality, Delivery and Cost). 
- Responsible for project and site health and safety. 
- Supervision/management of sub-contractors

Factory and Site Acceptance Testing

Supervision and coaching of junior staff, including technicians, graduates and apprentices

Salaries are based on capability.

Rapid progression

Progression is entirely dependent on your capabilities. There is an in-house academy for controls engineers covering a wide range of SCADA PLC tech alongside Machine and Process Safety.
